Over his career in coaching, he had several other state championship teams with baseball and softball. Coach Dube coached various sports, including baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, football, and track. Mike is a member of the Hall of Fame at Athol High School, Tantasqua Regional High School, and the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
About Mike
Mike Dube was a father of two, Lynn and Michael Dube, who graduated from Tantasqua. After remarrying in 1989, he gained five more children, most graduating from Tantasqua. Being a student-athlete was very important to Mike, and he taught this to all his children. Being a father and teacher with excellent coaching skills was a recipe for bringing out the best in his children and students.
Coach Dube passed away in the Spring of 2022, surrounded by his children. This scholarship fund was founded to help inspire student-athletes to continue to work hard and be leaders in all aspects of their life. A college friend once wrote to Coach Dube, “Don’t ever underestimate the positive role you played in molding the bodies, minds, and spirits of those now adults who form the fabric of our communities. The determination and self-confidence with which they face life’s challenges does not emanate from a state championship ... but from the literally thousands of hours of exposure to a coach who loved them, nourished them, cajoled them, and led them to that place where we all hope to be: the best person we can be!"
